A coalition of community groups is holding
an organizing forum Wednesday with a series of workshops and presentations
aimed at people who are opposed to a proposed development for the Balloon
Tract.
”This is not a forum to debate,” said David Cobb, a Democracy
Unlimited of Humboldt County steering committee member. “This is
a forum for people who want to keep all of the options open.”
The forum is sponsored by the Healthy Humboldt Coalition, Local Solutions
and Democracy Unlimited. For more information, call 269-0984.
Thursday, February 16th 4-7 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building.
Security National will present an open house.
The event’s purpose is to provide a chance for local residents
to receive answers to questions concerning the development that SN plans
to construct on Union Pacific Railroad Co.’s Eureka Rail Yard,
or “Balloon Track.”
At Thursday’s open house, booths will be run by people who will
provide written information and will answer questions. Categories covered
will include traffic and economic and environmental impacts.
One of the retailers planned for the Marina Center is Home Depot and
that business’ representatives will be at the open house to hear
community residents’ questions and concerns.
For more information about the open house, phone SN Senior Vice President
Brian Morrissey at (707) 476-2713. |
